They arent over, Pete was in 1 of his 'deep' moods, and was just contemplating stuff and people ran w/it. He says now theyre just on a break, chilling back, sorting stuff, back to where they were when they first announced the thing I am calling 'FOBs Power Nap' :D
Have you read those articles on mtv though?

On February 1, 2010, bassist Pete Wentz said on Twitter, "Don't you get it? A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either." "I can't imagine playing in FOB again." "Something would have to change in my head or my heart ... not my wallet."

AND

On February 2, 2010, Spin Magazine released an interview they had with lead singer Patrick Stump, who replied to Pete Wentz's tweets by saying, "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now. But one way or another, the band will always be around...Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons." Stump also told Spin.com that he was focusing on his upcoming solo career.
Later that day, drummer Andy Hurley simply tweeted, "I quit too." as guitarist Joe Trohman tweeted in reply, "fine, i quit too.
Wow! I have alot to say about this, so I hope everyone is in the mood to read! As of right now it seems permanent. Over the past week i've read at least 30+ articles on the situation, and have been following all the tweets from Joe, Pete, and Andy. What I think we really need to do is sit back and chill, let the boys figure everything out. they wanted to take a break, take some time off to not think about it. and all the fans did, prolly not all, cuz i know I didnt, but most, just kept bugging and bugging about it, all the wanted was some time off after the 9 years of constant touring, recording, recording, writing, touring, touring, and did I mention touring?! but instead of getting their mind off of it, fans just kept building the pressure, by askin what was going on, if they were going to get back together, and why did they break up? Which did not in any means let them take their mind off of it. Patrick did say "I'm not in Fall Out Boy, right now" but at least he said right now, right? I mean technically, if they are on a break then none of them are in the band. and reading the articals, and tweets, after that was said, andy worte "I quit too" on twitter, and shortly after Joe posted a tweet that read " I just did interviews with Span Magazine, Rabbling Stone, and Blunder about how much quitting I done" now in the articles they are sayin that Patrick had never told his bandmates about him making a record, and after joe and andy had read that, or heard about it, whichever, they posted those, and I think thats who they are referring too, I think they feel as if Patrick quit the band. But in my personal opinion I dont think he did at all, I think that he thought since the band was going to take a break, that he still wanted to be involved with music, and decided that maybe while they were on break, he would expierament a little with music by making his own record. I mean it's better than him making a whole new band that could very possibly be a huge hit, to the point that Fall Out Boy never came back again, right? Now Pete did say that they were back to where they were when they first announced the "decompression" (as he referred to as the new term he was going to use for the situation instead of the "h" word or break-up) witch means things might look up and we may see them again in a few years. :) Follow these links to read things that were actually said by the band members:

Now I do have alot of information in my brain right now, just can't think of the words to say, or to put the information into! I do think that after a few years we will have our boys back! but it will be a few years, like I said, they have dun so much in the past nine years its rediculous, I mean 6 albums, includin their greatest hits, touring, and everything! they have worked their asses off, what we should be doing is thanking them for the enormous amount of work that they have done to please us, and give us music, non-stop for 9 years, without taking a break! we should be giving them a standing ovation! and we should definately be giving them their space, as they need it, and very well deserve it! And always know that in your heart Fall Out boy is always going to be with us one way or another! We still have their cds, and the memory of what they have done! Give them your support, let them know you're behind them 100% no matter what happens, because you love them, and you only what the best for them, and you want them to be happy! I Do hope that Fall Out Boy return and rock our worlds again! But if they dont, it will be sad, but I'm not going to be mad or angry with them, cuz I'd rather them be happy than myself, even if i never got to see them live! I LOVE FALL OUT BOY, and I ALWAYS WILL! Whether they are making music, or off living their own seperate lives, they will always be a part of who I am!
I am sooo devestated. I'm in my room listening to Fall out boy....crying. It's like I just came out of a long relationship
Fall Out Boy will never die. Even after they break up (which is inevitable) they will live on in all of us and we will pass our taste in music down to our children and grandchildren. Plus we'll always have our iPods and CDs and of course Patrick Stump's solo album and any other side project.
I thought it was weird how they came out with a greatest hits cd. Not saying I didn't love it but who puts out a hit cd before they've written all of their songs.
it wont bother me since each of them still makin something.. especially patrick
they haven't broken up.
They're on a break for awhile, they have lives too, guys.
Instead if wasting your time being all depressed about them when they haven't even broken up,
why not give them support? they love their fans, they want their fans to be happy.
Get over it, there's nothing to be depressed about.
Let them live their lives for awhile.
They deserve it after all they've done.
YEA IVE READ IT ALL
MY LIFES OVR

LOL, @FALLOUTBOYFREAK<333

No, but maybe. By the sounds of it, it can go either way. However, I personally feel it is extremely likely that they will get back together to make music when they so feel in the future.
Thankyou Kaitlyn, I've read most of the articles now and I think it's a ploy to give them some peace, and I agree, they deserve a break. Okay, all is good. :)
Pete has said he regrets trying to explain things, coz its all blown out of proportion. And the whole thing w/Andy and Joe is a kind of joke I think, coz people like Mark Hoppus were saying it too :D Pete realised people had got worried and confused and made it more jokey. As fa as I know, theyre taking a break. Theyve done this for years. Patricks doing a solo album as part of his 'vacation', and Andy and Joe are doing side projects. Petes just chilling w/his family and doing buts and pieces. Dont worry, Im sure that it'll work out. They wont just drop everything like that. I trust em.

I agree with you one hundred percent.

C'mon, guys, cut the boys some slack. They've been doing this for years now, and all they're asking for is a reasonable break, and everybody freaks about it. When I first heard about the break, everybody was saying that it was a breakup, so, obviously, I was upset about it, but I got over it. Then, they said it was just a break, and I believe those guys a whole lot more than I believe some random fans that are half-way across the earth from me. I understand everybody's concern, because I love FOB as much as the next guy. I love them to fucking death, and if something happened to the band, of course I would be upset. But, they just need some time to, as Pete said, "decompress," and I'm giving them time to do that. I believe in those guys, and I believe that they'll be back, that they wouldn't just lie to us and never come back. They promised that it's JUST a break. They're still trying to figure out how things will go, but with everybody giving them a hard time about it, they're only going to be pressured more.

I cried a lot two days ago when I heard that Pete said he might be leaving the band. Then, I realized, it's Pete. xD He's just in one of those moods, and I understand that because I go through them, too. I think we all do at some point. I noticed that he sounded angry, fed up. But now I've heard more about it, and I think he's starting to chillax about it more, like he was when it was first announced. He's just stressed about all this shit that's going around, guys. Nothing's going to happen. And even if it does, it's for the best, as Patrick said.

It's kind of like what happened with MCR. They had been going for a while when they disappeared for three or four years back in 'Oh Six. Now, they're back again, almost finished [I think. It's been a long process of this record they're working on. So, you can't really estimate. xD] with the next record. They just needed some time off, and they came back. Also what happened with Green Day, with the four/five-year gap between American Idiot and Twenty-First Century Breakdown. They came back, and it seems like Green Day's better than ever.

I say we just give them some time off. Besides, Andy and Joe are in a band now, so we have that to look forward to, and not to mention Patrick's solo project. I'm very excited for both, AND when FOB decides it's time to start back in the industry again. I don't care how long it takes, or what happens. I believe in those guys more than probably anything else in the world, and if you're a real fan, so will you. I'll be waiting for them, cool, calm, and collected about it. Just give the boys some time. I trust them to do what they think is right, no matter what it is, and I'll be happy with their decision. <3 And this reply is probably going to end up a lot longer than necessary... xP [/endramble]

I totally agree - they need time to sit back and relax, and when theyre back theyll be awsome. Coz I think they will be. Just like Greenday really. I think Pete just got so pissed w/people making rumours and stuff. I know I would
Yes! thank you and everyone else who does agree with me, for agreeing with me lol! And as you were talking about Green Day and MCR, I was like no flippin way!? I had no idea they were on "break" for that long! It felt like a year max! I'm sure that their side projects will distract us to the point where we are going to be buying the albums, and then in like 2 or 3 years, they'll be coming out with a new album! And out reaction will be like "OH SHIT!" lol! "how long has it been?" It'll only feel like a short period of time, when in reality it was a few years. And we'll have our boys back! :) all we need to do is have faith and trust! Believers Never Die! :)
