I know you said new bands but I love smashing pumpkins, weezer, four year strong, and counting crows. check them out if you haven't already. Sorta new bands I like are rocky loves Emily, crash coordinates, and a rocket to the moon. although I know they arn't THAT new.
What makes this so hot is my favorite Rocky loves Emily song. check the bands I said and see if you like them. I know lady gaga isn't a band but her music is really fun. I'm not sure what kinda music your into but none of these are screamo. (Devil Wears Prada is good but you said no screamo :P)

thanks! I'm not looking for just new and upcoming bands haha.. just new to me I guess. I do listen to a few of those bands already but I will definitely check out the others! and I agree older bands are usually better :)

you really should check out:
-Artist Vs Poet: really upbeat and catchy, won't make you feel depressed after a long day at school. Check out Runaway, Car Crash, and Lisa Marie.
-Phoenix: not exactly new (they've been around since about 2000 or 2001) but they have some sweet music. You especially should check out their songs 1901 and Rome.
-fun: their name says it all. seriously. but for further enlightenment they are a band that uses strings and accordions, and lots of synchopated melody along with repeated choruses but it's strangely not annoying. Try Walking the Dog and All the Pretty Girls.
-Vampire Weekend: a bit similar in sound to fun, but they're more rhythmically based, they use a lot of percussion. But when you combine those beats with the lead singer's awesome voice (with a really good falsetto), i guarantee you will become a fan. My favorites from them are White Sky, APunk, and Oxford Comma.

Thanks! I've listened to Artist Vs. Poet before and didn't like them much. Also I love fun. and Vampire Weekend already haha but I listened to Phoenix and I think they're really good so thanks for that.

You should check out some kiwi bands like Midnight Youth , Elemeno P , Shihad or Trigger Theory
