Hot Chelle Rae is the last band that many people would expect to call Nashville home. These four immensely talented guys are not some backwater country band. Their debut release, Lovesick Electric, quite literally rocks. Hot Chelle Rae has managed to unite electronic dance sounds with pure rock and roll in a combination that works perfectly from track one to track eleven.
The album begins with “Say (Half Past Nine)” that really sets the tone for the record. With the lyric, “no looking back and no regrets”, Hot Chelle Rae clearly informs the listeners to prepare themselves for what the album has coming. With the mood set, the band gives us what is arguably the best song on the album. “I Like to Dance” needs no explanation but the title. It only gets better from here. The band experiments with driving power ballads with “Bleed” and “The Distance”. Then, they bring out the stomping beats of “Never Have I Ever” and “Bushes”. The diversity of the material on the record clearly shows Hot Chelle Rae’s ability to change up their sound without overwhelming the listener. Overall, Lovesick Electric is a solid debut that promises big things from Hot Chelle Rae in the future.
