She had a poem,
and wrote it all down
because she thought it would help
if she wrote it all out.
She about at first
when his eyes made her glow
then the middle
when neither were so sure
and the end
when he began to swing
when he left welts, bruises, and scars
when his eyes made her glow
just before he began to swing.
She set down the pen.
Put the poem away
and remembered how
he had begged her to stay
just before he began to swing
she wasn't quite sure
how long this would last
but it only hurt for a moment
but it only welted for a minute
but it only bruised for days
but it only scarred... for a lifetime.
He eyes never made her glow
she was crashing
accepting what she never deserved.
She fell to the kitchen floor
and didn't think
she could get up anymore.
