Honestly, gimmicks are overrated. Music shouldn't be about what you dress like or look like because what your trying to sell is something for kids to listen to. The problem with bands today is that they constantly put time, effort, and money into their look and lose sight of their songs. So instead of buying awesome gear, getting lessons to perfect their craft, and dressing like a normal human being while gaining fans from their actual music, "gimmick bands" (and most popular bands quite frankly) end up with the most terrible music ever. So my suggestion to you is to dress the way that best represents you and that your comfortable wearing, and focus on playing your instrument and write killer songs. Oh, and an energetic stage show is also a plus =)

Well if you have a passion to make music your career like us, you should focus on "making it". I would love for my music to provide my cost of living life lol

I agree, artists should realize that being true to themselves is the most important aspect of being an artist in general. But the majority of society doesn't see it that way. Thats why you see bands go for a more general sound, so that they may please the masses in order for them to open their ears to them. It's just how things work lol
