On tour in barren Hartford, Connecticut, about to play DIY style for an almost sold out show for around 400 people (these shows are my favorite!) w/ D.R.U.G.S.
However, it’s that time of the week again, MONDAY! Therefore, it’s time for me to share a piece of my hidden musical library. I’ve chosen to share with you a band that I’ve tried keeping to myself for almost 3 years now. Why? The same reason you don’t want your favorite band to blow up on the radio, it was like a pretty little secret I was keeping in my pocket. I would pull it from my pocket whenever I needed it.. being one of the few that was blessed enough to randomly come across them.
This week’s band is from Bakersfield, CA, and they’re called Norfolk. The song I’d like for you to scope out first is called “71”. This track will get you hooked to open your mind up enough to really let the rest of the tracks on the record sink in. It’s for fans of early Radiohead w/ a hint of piano.
My personal favorite track on the record is an acoustic masterpiece that goes by the name of “Move To The City”. It’s about moving on, creating a new plan, surrounding yourself with positivity, and actually following through with all of it.. which as many of you know is something that I recently had to do.
Now, this next part should make you hipsters out there very happy.. they’re so underground, that I couldn’t even find a youtube clip to share a free song for everyone to check out. However you can listen to samples / purchase the record on the link provided, you know, like a good hipster would do: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/norfolkmusic — yes, you have to copy & paste the link, you lazy bastard!
Enjoy! .. and please, if you fall in love - share it w/ someone who you believe will also feel the same.
