Life is expensive. I think there are a ton of people right now who know how it feels to stretch a dollar in these unstable economic times. We've all heard adults preach about learning to appreciate the value of a dollar, but who even knows what a dollar is worth anymore? Everything is changing. More than ever it feels like we all are trying to make ends meet. We work hard to get by. We try to do something nice for a friend and maybe even find a way to have some fun while we are at it. The more expenses we have it seems the less power we have to afford stuff that is awesome. Yet, through all of this, there is a shiny bright positive flipside. In all of the change there is something amazing that stays the same.
People support music. I can see it every day and it makes me believe that everything will be ok. People still turn to music to feel better and have a great time. Everyone wants to go to shows, even if they can only afford three a month instead of five. The coolest people I get to meet every day are normal, bright personalities who come to shows to sing and have fun, and somehow, they still choose to spend their hard earned cash on tickets and merch and records or .mp3s or some other kind of support for their favorite music and songs. A song costs about a dollar on the internet! Maybe I am on to something or maybe it’s random. The fact is, we may be struggling to keep up with our money and debt and so many problems, but music remains a way to escape and move forward. Thank you for choosing to rock yourself and us instead of frowning in the dark if you are the people I am talking about.
Every time Runner Runner is about to play a show I take at least one deep breath and prepare to leave everything behind for the moment. It is so awesome to lose yourself in the songs and the people and the loudness, that everything else just has to go away, maybe for later or another time. Remembering to let go and rock out helps us solve the small problems in our lives and show that they don't really matter in the grand scheme. What is important is staying in motion and getting better all the time.
If you have shown support for Runner Runner, buying our song or even just visiting our online community, thank you. Especially now, when we know how hard it is to afford everything we need, and even harder to get a dream off the ground, thank you. Thank you for agreeing with what we believe - that one song really can change EVERYTHING…for the better. We are forever going to surround ourselves in music. It doesn't matter to us whether you want to dance or cry or laugh or drive away toward the sunset when you’re listening to "So Obvious". It’s amazing to us that you even listened. We want to write songs for everybody. The most important thing is that people have the nerve to open up and love something at all. Sometimes people worry that no one else will understand why they like something. Some people really seem like they would rather hate or point out the worst, than just enjoy what is good about life. Music is good and true and I think we need it and always will.
