Where Are You Now?

Everywhere there is something new and something we must leave behind.

With so much to lose and so much to appreciate we must wonder, where is the tie that binds?

Consider that it is very simply the appreciation we feel itself - no more and no less.

When we witness a beautiful sunset in a strange and new city it is up to us to take in those colors. When we kiss our friends goodbye it is up to us to cherish their memory until we are together once more. We walk the finest line between missing and utterly missing out.

Where there is choice, there is adversity. We can shut our eyes to block out the sun and ignore the most uplifting song or the furious passion of the band as they belt their stories out onstage, and what is left is our stubbornness sitting in the dark.

So, constant friends, I beg you to see the peril in this choice and always remember that the mirror lies. We look more like what is inside. What you are is what you want. What you want is how you feel. What you get is what you ask for. What you are is yours alone and yours to share.

There will always be enough beauty to go around, enough adventure, ambition and love, and so there will always be trouble, misgiving and discord. Let the dark side show you the way to light. The dissonance is a kind of harmony. The friction and the tension are the way the world seeks release. When you are left alone with your darkest thoughts use their gravity to illuminate the shadows they cast. When reality bites, feed it.

Even opposites attract, and where there is darkness, surely we only know it because we have glimpsed even for an instant, the light.
